Smart Ways to Save Money on Groceries

Saving money on groceries is not an easy task. But you can reduce your grocery bill by buying in bulk and stocking up on what you know your family will consume while making a list to keep track of what you need.

We should always prepare for the worst, even when it comes to food. When we are preparing our grocery lists, we should also include an emergency list with canned foods, dry goods, water and other necessities. This way we have a backup plan just in case our refrigerators breaks down or if there is a natural disaster and there are no groceries available for days on end.

So if you want to save money on your groceries here are our top five tips:

  1. Buy dry goods like pasta, rice, flour etc. in bulk.
  2. Try to find a good vegetable store or market which will often sell vegetables that are in season and therefore cheaper.
  3. Make a meal plan for the week and only buy what you need for these meals
  4. Check your cupboards and fridge before you do your shopping so you don’t double up on items and waste food.
  5. Try to plan meals that will last a couple of days or at least for dinner and lunch the next day

Good luck with your shopping!
