Planning your wedding with Pinterest

If you are engaged and planning a wedding Pinterest will be your best friend!

What is Pinterest

Pinterest is a visual discovery engine for finding ideas like recipes, home and style inspiration, and more.

Pinterest.com

So basically, Pinterest is the google of visual content.  But if you are planning a wedding it is actually a lot more than a search engine.  It is a database of information which you can store in a way that makes sense to you.

How to use Pinterest to plan your wedding

So how exactly can you use Pinterest to plan your wedding?  Well firstly you will need a Pinterest account.  This is relatively easy to set up on pinterest.com just make sure to put wedding as one of your topics of interest to make sure you get wedding inspiration in your feed.

Once you have a Pinterest account you can start thinking about how you want to manage it.  Do you want to add all your friends or just stick to business?  Either way is a great idea just keep it in mind when you pick who you follow.  A good place to start is to follow some expert accounts like Green Wedding Shoes, Modern Rustic Weddings and Whimsical Wonderland Weddings to get some ideas.  You can also think about adding your bridal party and partner so they can add ideas too.  Whatever works for you!

Now you need to think about making some boards.  These are basically the folders where you store your favourite ideas from around the web as pins.  You can have as many boards as you like and they can be private or public.  To get you started some good ideas of wedding planning boards are:

  • Wedding themes and colours
  • Wedding dresses
  • Wedding suits
  • Bridesmaids’ outfits
  • Wedding decorations
  • Photography ideas
  • Ceremony inspiration
  • Wedding favours
  • Invitations and save the dates
  • Hens party planning (if you want to drop some hints to your hens😊

Once you have your boards set up you can start searching Pinterest for inspiration or just pin things as you come across them on the web.  Whichever way you go try not to go too crazy on the number of pins or you might end up swamped with too many ideas.
